This is a role where your work is felt every day, on the production floor, across critical systems, and ultimately in the quality of healthcare products delivered to patients around the world.

As a Maintenance Engineer at Douglas, you’ll take ownership of plant reliability and performance. Your expertise ensures equipment runs safely, efficiently, and consistently in a highly regulated GMP environment. An example of an approximate shift pattern would be: Day 5:30am–2:00pm, afternoon 1:00pm–9:00pm, and night 9:00pm–5:00am. The position also requires participation in an on-call roster to provide weekend coverage and respond to breakdowns when required.

What You’ll Do

  • Own the maintenance and reliability of production equipment, utilities, and facility systems
  • Execute planned, preventative, and corrective maintenance through CMMS systems
  • Diagnose faults, troubleshoot issues, and identify root causes to prevent recurrence
  • Contribute to and deliver plant improvement and capital projects
  • Recommend and implement system upgrades to improve productivity and efficiency
  • Maintain accurate service records, documentation, and maintenance data
  • Support calibration, inspections, and compliance activities across site assets
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with Production, Facilities, Quality, and Engineering teams
  • Liaise with external suppliers and contractors to support maintenance and improvements
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives and engineering best practices

What You’ll Bring

  • You will have an Engineering Trade Certificate or tertiary qualification in Engineering

  • Solid understanding of health & safety and quality standards (ideally GMP)
  • Strong organisational, problem-solving, and communication skills
  • A proactive, self-driven approach with attention to detail
  • Experience with HVAC, boilers, water systems, BMS, SCADA, or compressors will be a distinct advantage
  • Background in pharmaceutical or food manufacturing environments is a great plus
  • Electrical Service Technician (EST) or Electrician EWRB registration will be beneficial
