(Azure) Cloud Platform Engineer

This position supports the design, build, and operational health of the cloud and modern workplace platform. Working as part of the broader infrastructure team, the Cloud Engineer brings hands-on capability across Azure, Microsoft 365, and Zero Trust network access - contributing to the transition to a cloud-first, security-by-design operating model.

  • The team and role are based in Central Auckland (CBD) directly adjacent to major transport links, in an extremely well appointed corporate office.
  • The hybrid working model is 2 days WFH, and 3 days office based.
  • Salary for the role is up to $140,000 + a discretionary yearly bonus.

About the role

This position will be responsible for the following:

  • Cloud Platform operations (Azure)
  • Defining and maintaining Infrastructure-as-code (terraform) and CI/CD deployments & migrating existing workloads to the Cloud
  • Operating and improving Microsoft 365
  • Zero Trust and Secure Access (Zscaler)
  • Operational support across legacy infrastructure Windows, AD etc;
  • Maintaining and documenting knowledge based articles, and supporting asset management and compliance activities and alike.

This is a Microsoft tech heavy organisation, however no two days will be the same so troubleshooting and problem solving across a broad range of technologies will be required.

Requirements

  • Hands-on capability across Azure IaaS/PaaS — compute, networking, identity, and automation
  • Microsoft 365 engineering depth: Exchange Online, Intune, Conditional Access, and Purview
  • Zscaler ZIA/ZPA or equivalent ZTNA platform experience
  • Scripting and automation skills including PowerShell and infrastructure-as-code tooling
  • Experience migrating workloads to cloud
  • Ideally AZ-104, AZ-305, and M365 Enterprise admin certifications
  • Zscaler knowledge or certs
  • Clear and concise communication skills.
