An exciting opportunity has arisen for an Executive Manager Finance to join Honda New Zealand, one of the world's most recognised and respected automotive brands.

Reporting directly to the Managing Director, this is a pivotal leadership role responsible for the overall finance function of Honda New Zealand. You will provide strategic financial leadership to the business while ensuring strong governance, compliance, reporting, treasury management, and commercial decision support across the organisation.

As the Executive Manager Finance, you will partner closely with the Managing Director and executive leaders to influence business performance, support strategic initiatives, and help shape the future direction of Honda New Zealand.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the Finance function across accounting, reporting, budgeting, treasury, tax, governance, and compliance.
  • Provide strategic financial advice and commercial insights to the Managing Director and Senior Leadership Team.
  • Deliver accurate and timely monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reporting for both local and international stakeholders.
  • Lead annual budgeting, forecasting, and business planning processes.
  • Manage cashflow forecasting, treasury activities, banking relationships, and funding requirements.
  • Oversee tax compliance including GST, FBT, income tax, and transfer pricing obligations.
  • Ensure strong internal controls, financial integrity, governance, and risk management frameworks are maintained.
  • Lead statutory audits and act as the primary relationship manager for external auditors.
  • Support strategic decision-making through financial modelling, business case development, and performance analysis.
  • Oversee the administration and governance of Honda Financial Services, partnering with internal and external stakeholders to optimise performance and customer outcomes.
  • Act as Compliance Officer for the New Zealand business, ensuring adherence to corporate governance and compliance requirements.
  • Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing finance team while supporting succession planning and capability development.

Key Requirements

  • CA, CPA or equivalent professional accounting qualification.
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Commerce, or a related discipline.
  • Significant experience in senior finance leadership roles, ideally within a multinational, corporate, automotive, manufacturing, or retail environment.
  • Strong technical expertise across financial reporting, taxation, treasury, governance, and compliance.
  • Prior experience in transformation and change management
  • Proven ability to influence executive-level decision-making through commercial insight and strategic thinking.
  • Experience leading statutory audits and managing external stakeholder relationships.
  • Strong people leadership capability with a track record of developing high-performing teams.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to build credibility across all levels of an organisation.
  • Advanced financial modelling, reporting, and systems capability.
  • Experience working within complex reporting environments and multinational group structures will be highly regarded.
