This is a hands-on role operating advanced steel processing equipment in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
In this position, you will safely and efficiently operate our state-of-the-art coil slitting line, along with other processing machinery. You will measure and cut steel to precise specifications, perform quality checks, bundle and package orders, receive inward goods, pick and dispatch orders, and complete general warehouse duties including forklift and crane operations. The role demands a strong commitment to safety, accuracy, and continuous improvement. As a self-starter and team player, you will also be expected to proactively train and support other team members to help them advance through our structured skill levels.
This is more than a standard machine operator role. You will work with the latest coil slitting technology, take ownership of your area, troubleshoot minor machine issues, and contribute to optimising processes and housekeeping. You will collaborate closely with the production team, supervisors, and drivers to ensure accurate, high-quality output and on-time delivery for New Zealand’s building and construction industry. The position offers clear pathways for progression to senior machine operator and leading hand levels for the right candidate.
About You
- Experienced operating a coil slitting line
- Physically fit and able to handle manual work safely
- Strong commitment to health & safety and following procedures
- Reliable self-starter with a good attendance record
- Able to read, write and communicate effectively in English
- Forklift and/or crane ticket advantageous (training can be provided if needed)
- Team player who is prepared to train and support others
- Previous experience in steel, manufacturing or warehousing highly regarded
- Willing and eager to learn and progress through our skill-level programme
