This is an exciting opportunity to take ownership of and lead advanced people analytics, workforce reporting, and strategic workforce planning within a complex and evolving organisation.
The Lead, People Data and Analytics will be the subject matter expert across Kāinga Ora’s people data, analytics, and workforce intelligence capability. This is an influential role, playing a key part in shaping leadership decisions through forward-looking insights, external benchmarking, and meaningful workforce analysis.
You will lead the evolution of the function from reporting to insight-led, strategic workforce planning, partnering closely with Finance and senior leaders to ensure workforce decisions are informed, proactive, and aligned to organisational performance.
Core responsibilities include setting Kāinga Ora’s workforce analytics roadmap and working in partnership with technology and data teams to shape and embed data quality standards, definitions, and governance practices for workforce data.
You will also play a key role in defining workforce reporting and analytics requirements as new systems are implemented, ensuring business needs are clearly articulated and that new technology enables the delivery of timely, actionable insights for senior leadership.

Here’s What You Will Bring To The Role
- Experience leading, coaching, and developing a high-performing team of analytical or performance reporting specialists
- Proven ability to deliver advanced, meaningful insights (beyond standard reporting), including the use of external benchmarks and comparative data
- Demonstrated ability to influence decision-making at senior and executive levels
- Experience building or contributing to workforce planning or strategic analytics capability, including forecasting and scenario modelling
- Strong ability to partner across functions, particularly with Finance, and with technology and data teams
- A focus on uplifting team capability—coaching Analysts to move from reporting to insight, storytelling, and influencing
- Strong commercial or financial acumen, with the ability to link workforce insights to cost, capacity, and organisational performance outcomes
- A finance or data analytics qualification, or equivalent experience demonstrating this level of capability
- Knowledge of Oracle would be beneficial
