The Procurement team at Christchurch City Council operates as a shared service provider to business units across the organisation.

We work in a centre‑led model, championing high‑quality procurement practice from identifying business needs through to supplier and contract management.

Our team safeguards, services, and shapes procurement activity across a wide range of Council requirements.

About the role | Ko te mahi nei

We are looking for a Procurement Support Officer to join our team. This role is ideal for someone early in their procurement career who thrives in a fast‑paced, varied environment where no two days look the same.

  • Excellent administrative capability
  • Previous PA or executive support experience (highly beneficial) as a component of this role will be supporting the Head of Procurement
  • Strong organisational skills and attention to detail
  • A collaborative, team‑first approach

You’ll interact with a wide range of stakeholders, so relationship‑building and clear communication are essential.

  • Contributing to compliance with the Council Procurement Framework
  • Maintaining supplier and contract master data
  • Supporting the Head of Procurement with coordination, administration, and workflow management
  • Building effective, collaborative relationships with business units
  • Identifying opportunities to improve processes and supporting change
  • Working calmly and confidently in a busy, sometimes high‑pressure environment

This role offers exposure to experienced procurement professionals and the chance to build a strong foundation in the field.

  • Strong administrative background, ideally in a public or regulated environment
  • PA or executive support experience (advantageous)
  • Ability to manage competing priorities and stay organised
  • A proactive mindset and willingness to learn and take initiative

  • Hours of work - Fulltime Permanent Position
  • Location - This position is primarily based at 53 Hereford Street, Christchurch
  • Salary - The salary band for this position goes from $67,635 - $75,150 per annum based on a 40 hour week. Starting salaries will be based on knowledge, skills and experience the successful candidate brings to the role, and relativities both, within the immediate team and in the broader organisation for the same or similar roles.
