About The Role

We're on the hunt for an experienced and dedicated Registered Nurse to step into a pivotal leadership role as Unit Coordinator for the Hospital Unit at William Sanders Retirement Village in Devonport, Auckland. This is a full-time position working Tuesday to Saturday 0800 – 1630.

As the Hospital Unit Coordinator, you’ll lead with impact and clarity by:

  • Setting clear expectations and coaching your team to deliver care that is “good enough for mum and dad,” with a focus on quality, safety, and continuous improvement
  • Building team capability through coaching, feedback, and development, lifting confidence and accountability across all shifts
  • Creating a positive, inclusive, high-performing environment where people feel valued and supported
  • Overseeing personalised care planning that delivers strong clinical outcomes for residents
  • Building trusted relationships with residents, families/whānau, and health professionals
  • Leading excellence in interRAI and documentation, using data to inform decisions and improve outcomes
  • Balancing quality care with efficient rostering, workflow, and resource use
  • Staying visible and connected across shifts, providing hands-on leadership and support
  • Understanding how staffing, acuity, and care decisions impact performance and compliance
  • Contributing as a key member of the leadership team alongside the Clinical and Village Managers

About You

To succeed in this role, you’ll bring a mix of clinical expertise, leadership capability, and a genuine passion for resident care:

  • You’re a registered nurse with a current APC
  • You bring experience working in a Senior RN or Nursing leader role
  • You have interRAI competency or are willing to achieve this
  • You lead by example, building capability through coaching, support, and sharing knowledge
  • You motivate and engage your team to deliver high-quality care
  • You make sound clinical decisions, balancing resident needs, risk, and best practice
  • You’re confident using clinical systems and data to guide care and improvements
  • You communicate clearly, build trust, and set expectations
  • You bring kindness, compassion, and drive to deliver exceptional care
  • Flexibility to share responsibilities of the on-call component with other Unit Coordinators as per a roster coordinated by the Village Manager
