Internal Opportunity - Assessment Specialist

We’re seeking expressions of interest for an internal secondment as an Assessment Specialist in the Assessment Centre.
The secondment will be for a fixed term for approximately 5 months.
This role is open to current permanent employees of Open Polytechnic only.
Based at the Lower Hutt campus, this role focuses on strengthening the quality and consistency of assessment, supporting assessment teams, and contributing to improvements in areas like digital assessment and adjunct marker development. Reporting to the Manager Assessment Centre, you will provide expertise and specialist knowledge on assessment practice.

It’s a great opportunity to build your expertise in assessment practice and get involved in organisation-wide work, where you will be responsible for:
- Maintaining standards of assessment delivery and marking practice
- Enabling efficient and effective marking through best-in-class assessment resources and support for markers
- Contributing to the operation of the Assessment Centre as a centre of expertise in flexible assessment
- Ensuring consistency and transparency of assessment marking
- Leading continuous improvement initiatives that are informed by evidence and self-evaluation
Ngā pūkenga mo te tūnga | What you will bring to the role:
- Expert assessment knowledge and skills, including digital assessment, summative assessment and recognition of prior learning
- Good understanding and knowledge of moderation theory and practice
- Strong quality assurance knowledge and skills
- Understanding of the current tertiary education sector including knowledge and experience in trends in distance education and digital learning
- High level of judgment, flexibility, self-motivation and responsiveness
- Cultural capability skills and commitment to implementation of the Treaty of Waitangi as it applied to the education sector
- A degree qualification
