This is an exciting fixed-term (until March 2027) leadership opportunity for someone who can bring out the best in people while shaping the future of data science. Please note: In January 2025, the Government announced plans for the future of the New Zealand science system, including the creation of new Public Research Organisations. As part of this, we will be bringing together the significant capabilities and resources of MetService and Earth Sciences to provide the best weather, climate and associated impacts forecasting system for New Zealand now and into the future. To achieve this Earth Sciences will acquire MetService as a wholly owned subsidiary, with MetService retaining its role as New Zealand's authorised meteorological voice.
