PHF Science is a government-owned research organisation dedicated to protecting and enhancing the health, wellbeing and safety of our communities. Specialising in public health and forensic sciences, it monitors infectious diseases and environmental health risks, help ensure safe food and water, reduces harm from drugs, and supports the New Zealand Police and wider justice system.
Forming part of PHF Science’s executive leadership team, the GM Forensic role leads the Forensic Science Group of around 200 staff, which delivers forensic science services and advice to the NZ Police and wider justice sector. These services include the collection and analysis of physical evidence from crime scenes, DNA and forensic biology, pharmaceutical testing, toxicology, illicit drug analysis, and maintaining New Zealand’s DNA Profile Databank. The role also provides leadership for developing relevant forensic research programmes. The GM will also contribute to the collective leadership of the organisation, as part of the PHF Science Executive Leadership Team.
To be considered, you will be able to highlight your experience and capabilities in the following aspects:
- senior, large-scale scientific leadership;
- experience in service or operational delivery, supported by a demonstrated commercial focus relating to financial planning and leveraging growth opportunities;
- demonstrated high-level strategic thinking; and
- exceptional relationship development skills, as the role requires a high level of engagement and communication with external agencies and institutes.
While not essential, forensic or relevant science expertise is desirable.
