This is a great opportunity to grow your commercial banking career, working alongside experienced Partners and gaining exposure to a diverse portfolio of business customers.

As an Associate Partner, you’ll support our Commercial Partners in delivering exceptional service to customers, with a strong focus on credit writing, financial analysis, portfolio risk monitoring and proactive customer support.

What will your day-to-day look like?

  • Support Commercial Partners with credit writing, annual reviews, covenant testing and portfolio administration.
  • Analyse financial information and prepare lending proposals that support quality customer outcomes.
  • Assist with credit management and the implementation of annual business plans for assigned customer portfolios.
  • Develop and manage customer relationships, while building strong referral connections across BNZ and the local market.
  • Help customers make the most of BNZ’s digital and support channels, ensuring they receive timely and appropriate service.

What will you bring?

This role would suit someone looking to take the next step toward a future relationship management or commercial banking career pathway. You’ll bring curiosity, strong attention to detail, and a genuine interest in supporting business customers to succeed. You will demonstrate:

  • Experience in business banking, financial modelling or credit writing. We’re also keen to hear from experienced bankers with complex lending experience, or those from a financial background who can demonstrate strong business acumen.
  • A sound understanding of banking principles, lending processes and document preparation.
  • A customer-focused approach and a natural ability to build trusted, long-term relationships.
  • A collaborative, motivated style, with the ability to create an effective operating rhythm in a busy environment.
  • Strong problem-solving skills, adaptability, and the confidence to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
