The Opportunity |Te kōwhiringa

Reporting to the Construction Manager, you'll lead the planning, delivery, and performance of projects from tender through to completion. You'll provide strong leadership to project teams while ensuring projects are delivered safely, on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards.

This role also plays a critical part in building strong client relationships, developing team capability, and supporting future growth opportunities in the Taranaki region.

Key Responsibilities

Project Leadership & Delivery

  • Lead project methodology, planning, programming, and execution
  • Manage budgets, forecasts, and cost controls to achieve financial targets
  • Oversee subcontractors and ensure seamless coordination across work packages
  • Identify risks early and implement effective solutions to maintain delivery

Contract & Commercial Management

  • Manage contractual obligations, variations, and claims
  • Monitor project financials including cash flow and cost-to-complete reporting
  • Ensure accurate and timely reporting of project performance and risks

Stakeholder Management

  • Build strong relationships with clients, suppliers, and project stakeholders
  • Proactively resolve issues to ensure high customer satisfaction
  • Enhance reputation and secure future opportunities

People Leadership & Development

  • Lead, coach, and develop high-performing project teams
  • Set clear performance goals and support ongoing capability development
  • Foster a motivated, collaborative, and high-performance culture

Safety, Environment & Quality (Zero Harm)

  • Champion a Zero Harm culture through leadership and example
  • Ensure compliance with all safety, environmental, and quality standards
  • Identify and mitigate operational and compliance risks

Important Skills | Nga pūkenga matua

  • Proven experience in project management within construction or civil infrastructure
  • Strong leadership experience managing teams and project outcomes
  • Demonstrated ability to deliver projects on time and within budget
  • Commercial acumen, including contracts, claims, and cost management
  • Experience driving health, safety, environment, and quality performance
  • Tertiary qualification in Civil Engineering or a related field (desirable)
