Psychology Services Staff Bank

NHS Highland Psychology Services has recently set up a new integrated staff bank and is now looking to create a pool of suitably qualified internal applicants who would be interested in undertaking bank work on an ad-hoc and short-term basis as and when this may arise. Psychology Services includes the following specialist adult psychology areas: Adult Mental Health Psychology, Older Adult Psychology, Adult Neuropsychology and Major Trauma Psychology, Adult Learning Disability Psychology, Clinical Health Psychology, Workforce Mental Health Psychology, Drug and Alcohol Rehabilitation Service Psychology.

Who are we looking for?

This is a great opportunity for staff to temporarily undertake additional ad-hoc sessions and gain additional experience, whist at the same time helping the department become more flexible and resilient to short-term fluctuations in staffing.

The Team Is Very Interested To Receive Applications From Candidates Meeting The Essential And Desirable Criteria Fitting One Of The Job Descriptions Noted Below And Looking To Pick Up Ad-hoc And Short-term Bank Work As It May Arise:

  • Band 7 Clinical Associate Applied Psychology/CBT Therapist
  • Band 8A Clinical / Counselling Psychologist
  • Band 8B Principal Clinical / Counselling Psychologist

Please note, these are not vacancies and the work offered will be on an ad-hoc basis to cover any temporary gaps in service provision.

What would I be doing?

You would be carrying out a range of clinical sessional work online, by telephone and in-person, for one (or more) specialist areas of the adult Psychology Service in NHS Highland, as agreed with the relevant Head of Service for that specialty. The work could be available for a number of reasons including covering illness or leave, or even a waiting list reduction initiative.

Do I need to be registered?

Bank Workers Must Deliver a High Standard Of Care Within Their Professional Group With Professionalism, Flexibility, And Reliability, Being Key Requirements. When We Look For Bank Workers At Various Grades, They Must Fit One Of The Job Descriptions Above, And Must Also Satisfy The Following Conditions At The Appropriate Grade:

Band 8A-8C Clinical / Counselling Psychologist staff must be HCPC registered as a Practitioner Psychologist and be fit to practice, as well as be a cleared member of the PVG (Protecting Vulnerable Groups) scheme.

Band 7 CBT staff will be required to be a member of the British Association of Behavioural and Cognitive Psychotherapists (BABCP), be fit to practice, as well as be a cleared member of the PVG (Protecting Vulnerable Groups) scheme.
