About the Role – Maintenance Foreman (Timaru)
We are seeking a hands-on and experienced Maintenance Foreman to join our Timaru team. This is a practical, field-based role leading our maintenance crew to deliver high-quality, safe, and efficient roading works across the South Canterbury region. The role will involve supervising maintenance activities, coordinating plant and materials, and ensuring compliance with health, safety and environmental requirements.
Key Responsibilities
Supervise and coordinate day-to-day road maintenance operations.
Lead, mentor and motivate crew members to achieve high standards of workmanship and productivity.
Plan and allocate resources, including plant, equipment and materials, to meet programme requirements.
Ensure all work is carried out in accordance with site plans, specifications and company procedures.
Maintain accurate site records, including timesheets, plant checklists, daily reports and material usage logs.
Promote and enforce a strong health and safety culture on site; conduct toolbox talks, identify hazards and ensure control measures are in place.
What you will bring
Proven experience at Foreman or leading-hand level in road maintenance or civil construction.
Strong practical knowledge of roading maintenance methods, plant and equipment.
Current and valid New Zealand driver’s licence (Class 2 required - higher preferred).
Ability to read and interpret plans, specifications and safety documentation.
Good communication and team leadership skills with a practical, solutions-focused approach.
Willingness to work outdoors in all weather conditions and undertake physical tasks; some On-call, weekend & night work will be required.
Right to work in New Zealand.
