We are looking for a Business Analyst (Domain Specialist L2) to join Enterprise and Integrity Services (E&IS), Planning Design and Delivery (E&IS PD&D). Utilise your business analysis skills to support the development of solutions to meet IR's change needs, focusing on improving user experience and outcomes for the wider IR business.

Te Tari Taake `Inland Revenue' (IR) plays a critical role in improving the economic and social wellbeing of Aotearoa `New Zealand'. We do this by collecting and distributing money - we collect 80% of the Crown's revenue and distribute social support payments.

About the team - Mo te roopu

Enterprise and Integrity Services (E&IS) is our corporate services group accountable for IR's finance, technology, people, workplace, commercial, marketing/communications and knowledge management functions.

The E&IS PD&D team offers three key services:

  • Initiative planning and delivery for projects being delivered by Enterprise and Integrity Services (E&IS)
  • Delivery and release management for IR's core HRMIS, FMIS, Procurement and Payroll systems
  • Change management for local and enterprise initiatives being delivered by Enterprise and Integrity Services (E&IS)

Our teams work with partners across IR to understand their strategic work and programmes of change initiatives. We deliver value for IR - bringing a strong focus to improving user experience, constantly improving outcomes and championing IR's customer-centric and intelligence-led culture.

About the role - Mo te tunga

This Business Analyst role works closely with internal stakeholders and SMEs as well as external delivery partners to identify, plan, design, develop, and implement improvements to IR business processes and systems.

As a Business Analyst, you will work across a range of activities, including facilitating the identification of business requirements, process improvement, business case development, benefits identification and realisation, and test design and execution. The work will be varied and interesting, spanning a wide range of systems and platforms supported by E&IS.

To be successful in this position, you will demonstrate the following:

  • The ability to work with a high level of organisational and technical awareness, acting as a conduit between the business, delivery teams and customers to elicit, analyse, communicate and validate requirements and current state
  • Strong knowledge of tools, techniques and frameworks used in business analysis, such as process mapping, workshop facilitation, prioritisation and agile methodologies
  • A structured and organised approach to delivering work across projects
  • The ability to contribute to documentation and presentations for forums and governance groups when required
  • An understanding of relevant process and technology trends, and the ability to apply these in an Inland Revenue context
  • Demonstrated experience applying business analysis skills within enterprise services environments (e.g. financial services, ERP, HRIS, payroll and accounting systems)
  • A track record of improving business processes and user experience through continuous improvement, data analysis and process re-engineering
  • Experience working on initiatives related to enterprise systems (e.g. HRMIS, FMIS, procurement and payroll systems) is desirable
  • Exposure to, or experience with, AI technologies or supporting AI-enabled initiatives is desirable
  • Strong knowledge of key tools, including Microsoft Office products (PowerPoint, Excel, Word, Teams, Visio, SharePoint, Power BI) and Atlassian Jira. Experience with ARIS is desirable
  • Strong relationship management and communication skills, with the ability to influence stakeholders
