Identity Engineer/Developer

ASB Bank

Remote

You will help ASB get workforce access right, at scale. As a Software Specialist in our Identity Governance and Administration (IGA) squad, you will build and improve the integrations that connect ASB applications into SailPoint, including custom integrations where no ready‑made connector exists. This is hands‑on engineering with real impact, enabling secure, auditable access for thousands of people across the bank.

About the Team | Mō te Tīma

The IGA squad sits within ASB’s Identity & Integration platform and is responsible for identity governance and administration across the organisation. The team is multi‑disciplinary, made up of developers, testers, analysts and security specialists, and works closely with Cyber Security and application teams across the bank. The squad supports a large and steady flow of onboarding work, turning complex application landscapes into governed, reliable access.

About the Role | Mō te Tūranga

This is a specialist development role for someone who enjoys integration work and solving real‑world technical problems. You will be the squad’s dedicated development specialist for onboarding and integrating applications into SailPoint, contributing to a significant pipeline of work as applications are migrated and onboarded over the next year. You will work closely with technical leadership, analysts and testers to deliver changes safely and consistently, while helping improve repeatability and delivery cadence.

Key Responsibilities

  • Build and implement integrations between ASB applications and SailPoint, including custom integrations where no pre‑built connector exists
  • Deliver development work supporting a large-scale programme to migrate and onboard applications into the identity governance platform
  • Collaborate with analysts and testers to plan, build, test and release onboarding changes
  • Improve technical patterns and approaches to increase repeatability and throughput
  • Work with a wide range of internal stakeholders, including application owners across the bank
  • Participate in an on‑call roster for identity services, primarily supporting security‑related access incidents

About You | Ō Pūkenga

You are a strong, senior‑level software engineer with solid development fundamentals and a practical delivery mindset. You do not need to be a SailPoint expert on day one, as training is available, but you do need the development capability to build integrations confidently and work independently. You are comfortable working across complex systems and enjoy contributing to work that improves security and reduces risk.

Key Skills And Experience

  • Proven software engineering experience, ideally in integration‑heavy environments
  • Strong scripting skills and confidence working across systems and interfaces
  • Experience with common engineering languages and tooling used in integration work, such as Java, PowerShell or Python
  • Experience working with APIs and integrating systems owned by different teams
  • Comfortable working through ambiguity and contributing to regular delivery cycles
  • A collaborative approach, including knowledge sharing and supporting others to grow
  • Interest in identity governance, IAM or security‑focused technology environments
