Integration Practice Lead
Datacom
Here at Datacom we connect people and technology in order to solve challenges, create opportunities and discover new possibilities for the communities we live in.
About the Role
We are seeking a dynamic Practice Lead to champion, scale, and evolve our Enterprise Integration capability. Reporting directly to the General Manager, you will help drive pre-sales strategy, architect strategic client relationships, and mentor a world-class team of integration engineers, tech leads, and consultants.
In this role, you will be at the forefront of the next wave of engineering. You will actively weave Agentic AI frameworks, AI-assisted development tooling, and modern automated solutioning techniques into our delivery models, ensuring our clients receive next-generation, future-proofed, and highly connected enterprise platforms.
You will lead a high-visibility practice that sits at the core of our enterprise modernisation strategy. We balance deep commercial success with a culture that values engineering discipline, cutting-edge AI adoption, autonomy, and collaborative leadership.
Key Responsibilities
Growth, AI & Pre-Sales Strategy
- Commercial Architecture: Partner closely with sales and new business teams to identify, shape, and secure a robust enterprise pipeline for application modernisation and integration programmes.
- AI-Driven Solutioning: Architect and shape client solutions that actively leverage modern AI tools, agentic orchestration, and advanced integration patterns to accelerate delivery and reduce technical debt.
- Service Line Champion: Position our modern integration capabilities to clients, whilst identifying cross-functional opportunities for the broader Digital Engineering business.
- High-Impact Workshops: Design and facilitate strategic customer discovery workshops to uncover complex backend integration requirements, define architectural roadmaps, and map them to clear business outcomes.
People & Delivery Leadership
- Next-Gen Talent Orchestration: Lead, inspire, and grow a high-performing culture of Integration Engineers and Tech Leads, embedding modern tooling (such as AI coding assistants and automated testing frameworks) into daily engineering practices.
- Operational Excellence: Manage workforce planning, utilisation targets, and technical hiring decisions in collaboration with your peer leadership group.
- Delivery Governance: Provide hands-on delivery leadership across the software development lifecycle, ensuring seamless, secure integration between internal systems and complex client enterprise ecosystems.
- Strategic Consulting: Maintain a sharp technical edge by occasionally acting as a Lead Architect or Consultant on key strategic or discovery-focused engagements.
Practice & Financial Management
- P&L & Commercials: Take ownership of the financial health, budgeting, and resource forecasting for the local Integration practice.
- Innovation & Ecosystems: Maintain up-to-date knowledge of the "state of the art" in API management, event-driven architectures, and modern cloud-native integration patterns, continually infusing these methodologies into local offerings.
- Regional Execution: Collaborate with the wider development leadership group to align, execute, and scale our regional growth strategy.
What You’ll Bring
- Leadership Pedigree: Proven experience managing, mentoring, and scaling highly technical engineering teams and team leaders, ideally within a fast-paced Professional Services or Consultancy environment.
- Integration Mastery: Deep technical grounding in modern integration patterns, API-led connectivity, microservices architecture, event-driven design, and cloud-native ecosystems (hybrid/multi-cloud).
- Commercial Acumen: Demonstrated success in pre-sales, scope/effort estimation, client relationship management, and driving complex enterprise project constraints (time, budget, and resources).
- Agile & Product Delivery: Expert-level understanding of agile frameworks, product development methodologies, modern DevOps pipelines, and robust middleware/integration architecture for medium-to-large enterprises.
- Influence & Clarity: Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, with a proven ability to confidently advise senior enterprise executives and collaborate deeply with technical specialists.
