Archway is supporting a large government organisation who are looking for a Payroll Specialst/Consultant to support with a shorter length, but high impact contract. With a strong focus on continuous improvement, the organisation is entrusting the contractor role to help in strengthening internal capability, systems, and processes to support long term performance and resilience.
The role
Role
This is a senior Payroll Specialist contract focused on lifting payroll capability, controls, and visibility. You will take ownership of delivering a series of improvements following an external payroll review. This is a hands on, delivery focused role where you will define what best practice looks like and lead the implementation of change across governance, reporting, and operational processes. You will operate with a high level of autonomy, bringing structure and clarity to a function that is performing but has opportunity to mature further. Key elements of the role include:
- Leading delivery of payroll improvement initiatives end to end
- Designing and implementing payroll controls and governance frameworks
- Developing meaningful reporting to improve visibility and decision making
- Enhancing documentation, processes, and system usage
- Reducing key person risk and improving team resilience
- Working closely with internal stakeholders to embed change into BAU
About You
To succeed in this role, you will bring a strong track record of not just running payroll, but improving and transforming payroll functions. You will ideally have:
- Senior level payroll experience with exposure to controls, governance, and reporting uplift
- Proven ability to design and implement end to end process improvements
- Experience working in complex or large scale environments
- Confidence operating in ambiguous environments and creating structure
- Strong stakeholder engagement skills with a collaborative approach
- A pragmatic, delivery focused mindset with high attention to detail
