ABOUT THE ROLE |Te tūranga mahi

This is an exciting opportunity for a commercially minded finance professional who thrives on partnering with leaders to drive business performance and strategic outcomes.

As our Strategy Partner, you will act as a trusted advisor to Executive and Senior Leadership teams, helping shape key business decisions through strategic analysis, commercial insights, and financial expertise. Sitting within the Strategy & Performance team, you will work across the business to connect strategy, operational performance, and financial outcomes, ensuring Port of Auckland continues to deliver long-term value.

This role offers a unique opportunity to influence major business initiatives, capital investments, strategic planning, and performance improvement across a dynamic and complex operating environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Partner with Executive and Senior Leaders to drive commercial and operational performance outcomes.
  • Provide strategic insights, scenario modelling, investment analysis, and business recommendations.
  • Oversee financial evaluation of major projects, business cases, and capital investments.
  • Support strategic planning, performance reporting, and shareholder requirements.
  • Develop meaningful performance measures that connect operational and financial outcomes.
  • Drive continuous improvement and identify opportunities to enhance business performance and value creation.

ABOUT YOU | Ko wai koe

You are an experienced finance professional with strong commercial acumen and a passion for strategy, business partnering, and organisational performance.

Essential Requirements

  • 5 -10 years' experience in finance, business partnering, strategy, transformation, or related roles.
  • Tertiary qualification in Accounting, Finance, Business, Commerce, or a related discipline.
  • Strong commercial acumen and experience aligning strategy with financial outcomes.
  • Experience translating complex data into strategic insights and recommendations.
  • Proven ability to build credibility and influence senior stakeholders.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills.

Desirable Requirements

  • Experience within infrastructure, logistics, transport, maritime, or other asset-intensive industries.
  • Advanced financial modelling, scenario planning, and investment analysis capability.
  • Knowledge of port operations, supply chain networks, or logistics environments.
  • Experience presenting strategic recommendations to executive audiences.
