We are seeking a Business Data Analyst (8 month secondment) to play a key role in the Property Performance Improvement & Quality (PIQ) team; someone who is as passionate about data, systems and processes as we are.

The PIQ team supports the Property leadership team and business groups to successfully plan, manage, deliver, and make decisions on a large portfolio of work, including projects and programmes that are delivering significant infrastructure and business change.

As the Business Data Analyst, you will work across data, systems and business processes to help the Property team make better decisions and improve how work is planned, managed and reported. You will turn complex information into clear analysis, identify issues and opportunities, and help develop practical solutions using approved Ministry tools and platforms. This may include improving reporting datasets, supporting Power Apps and Power Platform solutions, reducing reliance on manual spreadsheets, documenting processes, developing user guidance, supporting training, and contributing to business-as-usual reporting and analysis activities.

To be successful in the role, you must have:

  • Experience with project, programme or portfolio or asset management for a large government property portfolio.
  • Experience with Microsoft Power Platform tools, including Power Apps, Power Automate, Power BI, Power Query or SharePoint.
  • Relevant Microsoft certification, or willingness to work towards one, such as PL-900, PL-200, PL-300, DP-900, DP-600 or equivalent.
  • Experience in providing written reports and presentations to a high standard.
  • Experience managing and analysing data.
  • Experience mapping and developing processes, procedures and workflows.
  • Experience in introducing new systems, tools, or processes.
  • Experience managing multiple improvement activities across multiple projects to deadline.
  • Experience developing training collateral and providing training to a wide variety of stakeholders.
  • Communicating with a wide range of audiences on complex issues.
  • An understanding of public sector systems and processes.

The Following Skills And Experience Would Be Advantageous

  • Experience supporting migrations between platforms, or transitions from manual spreadsheets and ad hoc reporting to controlled, documented and repeatable data processes.
  • Experience testing business applications, validating outputs against source records, documenting defects, or supporting user acceptance testing.
  • Working knowledge of SQL, relational data concepts, data dictionaries, data lineage, data quality or data governance.
