Night Shift Support Worker - Kaimahi Tautoko Mahi Pō
About The Role
The purpose of the Night Shift role at James Liston Hostel is to oversee the safety, security and welfare of staff, residents, and the building during the night outside office hours.
Night Shift workers do not carry a caseload but are responsible for being aware of the individual needs of residents and their Support Plans, Safety and Risk Management Plans, and upholding relationships which are consistent with services provided throughout the day.

What You Will Be Doing
- Provide support for residents and staff during the overnight shift at James Liston Hostel.
- Utilise the case management system & provide person centred care that has the Tāiki principles at its core.
- Ensure case notes are accurate, up to date and professional and are entered into Recordbase within 24 hours.
- Ensure that all incidents are reported as per the Incident Management Procedure and are recorded accurately.
- Confidence to manage fire evacuations as appropriate with calm but assertive direction for residents.
What We Are Looking For
- Experience of work in the sector with a focus on client engagement in the field of homelessness, mental health and addiction and residential care.
- Capacity to demonstrate through actions commitment to Te Tiriti o Waitangi and the Mission’s values of Manaakitanga, Atawhai, Rangapū and Mana Tika, Mana Ōrite.
- Previous experience of night shift work.
- Ability to de-escalate situations that could potentially become incidents and manage own emotional regulation throughout.
- First Aid competent and certificated.
