At ASB, we’re focused on helping our people and customers move forward with confidence. As part of an ongoing uplift across Personal Banking, we’re growing our Risk & Compliance capability and are looking for experienced leaders to join us.

We have multiple opportunities at Lead and Senior Manager level, partnering across key areas including Customer Channels, Lend & Protect, and Manage My Money.

These roles sit at the heart of the business, strengthening how risk is understood, managed, and embedded into day-to-day decision making.

Te Tūranga | The role

As part of our Risk & Compliance team, you’ll act as a trusted partner to the business, working closely with leaders to support safe, consistent and customer-focused outcomes.

You’ll:

  • Provide clear, practical advice and challenge on risk and control design
  • Partner with stakeholders to strengthen how risk is identified and managed
  • Support incident and issue management, and guide teams through change
  • Help uplift capability and build a strong, proactive risk culture

You may work across different environments, including digital and product delivery, frontline customer channels or lending.

Lead vs Senior Manager

We’re open to candidates at different stages, and level will be aligned based on experience and capability:

  • Lead roles bring broader leadership accountability. You’ll partner closely with senior business leaders, shape how risk is embedded, and drive uplift initiatives to strengthen capability and outcomes across Personal Banking. You’ll also contribute to the leadership of the wider Risk & Compliance team and influence direction across the function.
  • Senior Manager roles focus on delivering strong risk outcomes within a defined area or pod. You’ll act as a trusted partner to the business, providing practical advice and challenge, leading key risk activities, and coaching others to build capability. You’ll also support the delivery of uplift initiatives and contribute to team-wide outcomes.

We’re open to different backgrounds, but to succeed in these roles you’ll bring:

  • Strong experience in risk and compliance within financial services
  • A solid understanding of operational risk and compliance frameworks
  • The ability to provide clear, practical advice and challenge
  • Confidence building relationships and influencing stakeholders
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to translate risk into simple, actionable insights
  • Experience working across complex environments and engaging with a range of stakeholders

For Lead roles, you’ll typically bring:

  • Proven ability to partner closely with senior stakeholders and deliver strong risk outcomes across a broader portfolio
  • Confidence influencing direction, driving uplift, and supporting capability across the business

For Senior Manager roles, you’ll typically also bring:

  • Strong experience delivering risk outcomes within a defined area and leading key pieces of work
  • Experience coaching others and contributing to team capability and delivery
