The Opportunity
We’re looking for a detail-oriented and proactive Assistant Accountant to join our finance team and play a key role in supporting the Firm’s financial performance. In this role, you’ll help deliver accurate, timely financial reporting that enables informed decision making across the business.
Working closely with the broader finance team, you’ll be responsible for maintaining high-quality financial data and contributing to the smooth running of core finance processes. Day To Day You Will
- Support the preparation and completion of high-quality monthly and annual financial reporting
- Ensure all preparation work underlying the financial and management accounting function is done accurately and on time, including monthly journals and general ledger analysis.
- Assist with cashflow forecasting by gathering and maintaining relevant financial data in conjunction with the Financial Accountant.
- Maintain tax compliance by preparing and filing GST and FBT returns accurately and on time.
- Provide data and administrative support for the Firm’s budgeting process from a financial and management reporting perspective.
- Complete balance sheet reconciliations in line with agreed standards, identifying and escalating discrepancies to support the accuracy and reliability of financial data.
About You
- At least 2-3 years experience and a solid understanding of financial and management accounting (journals, general ledger, reconciliations)
- Ability to support monthly and annual financial reporting
- Knowledge of tax compliance (GST and FBT returns)
- Experience with cashflow forecasting and financial data management
- Proficiency in balance sheet reconciliations and data accuracy
- Excellent attention to detail
- Competence in financial analysis and interpretation to support decision-making
- Strong time management and ability to meet reporting deadlines
- Works effectively with stakeholders and has excellent communication skills
- Identifies and drives continuous improvement opportunities
