About the Mahi (Role)
We are looking for an experienced and organised Assistant Accountant to join our growing Finance Team in this newly created permanent part-time role. Working 20–25 hours per week from Monday to Friday, this position has been created to provide additional finance capability to the team and will take primary responsibility for managing TBI Health's treasury function and leasing platforms.
Working alongside a collaborative team of five, you will support the wider Finance Team across a broad range of accounting activities while taking ownership of key business functions including lease management, cash flow support, property administration, and fleet management. This is a varied role that offers the opportunity to become involved in all aspects of a busy and evolving finance function.
The role can be based in either Auckland or Wellington, with flexible working arrangements available. While some work can be completed remotely, we would ideally like the successful candidate to spend two days per week in the office to support collaboration and team connection.
Key responsibilities include:
- Managing the Nomos One lease management platform and all lease-related obligations
- Supporting treasury and cash flow management activities
- Managing TBI Health's property portfolio and vehicle fleet
- Preparing reconciliations, journals, and accounts to trial balance stage
- Supporting the annual financial audit process
- Building and maintaining relationships with Southern Cross Healthcare Procurement and other key stakeholders
- Providing support and cover across the wider Finance Team as required
- Contributing to finance projects, process improvements, and other ad hoc initiatives

About You
To be successful in this role, you will have:
- A minimum of 2 years' practical experience in a financial or management accounting role within a medium to large-sized business
- Advanced Excel skills
- A high degree of computer literacy across Microsoft platforms, including a working knowledge of Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook
- The ability to work independently and demonstrate strong problem-solving skills
- Strong organisational and time-management skills
- The ability to communicate effectively with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders
- A positive, professional, and customer-oriented outlook
- Experience using Nomos One and a working knowledge of NZ IFRS 16 would be a desirable advantage
This role is well suited to someone who is organised, proactive, and enjoys working across a broad range of accounting activities.
