As part of BNZ's People & Culture team, the Employee Relations Partners are responsible for providing sound and expert advice to People Leaders, by overseeing and managing the day-to-day casework and people initiatives aimed at securing the continued attainment of superior performance by employees.

This is a full time, Auckland-based hybrid role with a minimum of three days in the office, including anchor days, and the others may be worked flexibly.

What are day-to-day tasks the ER Partner is responsible for?

This role is not for the faint hearted and you will be expected to deliver expert advice on a high volume and wide range of ER matters. Your portfolio of work will include such things as:

  • Performance management
  • Disciplinary processes
  • Supporting organisational structural change
  • Managing personal grievances, including mediations
  • Ensuring organisational alignment with current and future employment legislation
  • Bullying and harassment cases
  • Absentee management, including medical incapacity

What attributes will this person display in order to be successful in this role?

  • Significant experience in a senior ER role with an in-depth understanding of employee relations issues.
  • Strong knowledge of employment legislation and ability to interpret policies and make recommendations.
  • Excellent facilitation, negotiation and mediation skills.
  • A relevant tertiary qualification, preferably in Law, is highly desirable, but not essential.
  • Strong technology curiosity and literacy, including demonstrated engagement with AI.
  • Strong relationship building skills to support outstanding stakeholder engagement.

What projects/mahi will the candidates be working on now and into the next year?

As you'll be working alongside our HR generalists as part of a business-aligned people partnering team, there will be scope for you to get involved in and support other initiatives that our broader team is working on. You'll also drive continuous improvement of our ER service delivery, collaborating closely with our other ER Partners to ensure consistent and fair outcomes.
