Surf Life Saving clubs are at the heart of everything we do. They are where volunteers learn, connect, grow and build the skills that help keep our beaches and communities safe.
We’re looking for a Club Support Lead to work alongside our clubs, volunteers and local leaders to strengthen capability, support member development, and help clubs thrive. This is a role for someone who is passionate about people, enjoys building relationships and wants to make a real difference across the Surf Life Saving movement.
What You’ll Be Doing
You’ll be the key connection point between Surf Life Saving NZ and a group of local clubs, working collaboratively to support their goals and enable sustainable success.
This includes:
Building trusted relationships with clubs, volunteers and local stakeholders
Supporting recruitment, retention and member development initiatives
Coordinating and delivering training courses, development programmes and qualification pathways
Helping clubs implement local initiatives that strengthen participation, wellbeing and sustainability
Supporting operational committees and collaborating across lifesaving, sport and community education activities
Providing practical advice and support across areas including health and safety, member wellbeing and organisational policies
Championing club needs and connecting them with the right people, resources and opportunities across the wider organisation
At its core, this role is about enabling clubs and volunteers to do what they do best - serve their communities and save lives.
What You’ll Bring
You’re someone who enjoys working with people and can balance relationship building with practical delivery. You’re organised, approachable and genuinely motivated by helping others succeed.
Experience working with volunteers, clubs, community organisations, or the not-for-profit sector
Strong relationship-building and communication skills
Confidence coordinating projects, events or learning and development programmes
A collaborative approach and the ability to bring people together around shared goals
Strong planning, organisation and problem-solving skills
The ability to work independently while staying connected to a wider team
Understanding of Surf Life Saving and the member development pathway is highly regarded

This role can be based from an SLSNZ office within the relevant region or near the clubs you’ll support and will involve some evening and weekend work to stay connected with our volunteers and communities.
