The Role

Reporting to the CEO, you’ll lead a consolidated engineering function of approximately 20 people spanning design, maintenance, electrical/PLC, CNC, tooling, and workshop operations. The role exists to bring sharper coordination, stronger maintenance discipline, and more consistent delivery across an engineering function that is central to manufacturing performance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and coordinate the engineering team across all disciplines.
  • Implement structured preventative maintenance programmes.
  • Improve planning, prioritisation, and follow-through on engineering works and projects.
  • Oversee equipment installation, commissioning, and handover into manufacturing.
  • Coordinate engineering-driven procurement and reduce reactive purchasing.
  • Drive continuous improvement in productivity and responsiveness.
  • Work closely with Operations, Production Managers, and the wider SLT to align engineering with manufacturing priorities.

Key Skills & Experience Required

  • Proven experience leading engineering, maintenance, or technical teams in a manufacturing environment.
  • Strong organisational and planning skills with a track record of improving team accountability and delivery.
  • Experience implementing and improving preventative maintenance programmes.
  • Exposure to equipment installation, commissioning, and manufacturing handover.
  • Background in industrial manufacturing, automation, or equipment-build environments preferred.
  • Relevant engineering qualification advantageous.
