Internal Communications Manager

Tower Insurance

Remote

As a proud Kiwi born and bred insurer, we love challenging the status quo and moving fast to make things happen. We’re here to create beautifully simple, rewarding experiences for our customers and communities — and to protect the future of Aotearoa.

At its heart, insurance is about helping people through the unexpected. Doing what’s right for our customers — especially in tough times — gives real purpose to our work.

Why this role matters

This is a key role in shaping how our people experience Tower. You’ll turn strategy, priorities and business updates into clear, engaging communications that build understanding, connection and culture across the organisation.

You’ll partner closely with our senior leaders to help them communicate with clarity, confidence and authenticity, while making sure our people feel informed, included and connected to what matters most.

Your day-to-day would look like

  • Turning strategy, business priorities and change into clear, compelling communications
  • Advising leaders and teams on audience, messaging, tone, timing and channel
  • Supporting our senior leaders with key communications, including updates, speaking notes and key messages
  • Championing great stories from across Tower and shaping them for the right audience
  • Managing and improving internal channels like the intranet, Viva Engage and newsletters
  • Using data and feedback to lift engagement, readership and connection
  • Planning and supporting internal events that build culture and connection
  • Communicating both positive and sensitive updates in a thoughtful, timely way

In your first 6–12 months, success will look like:

  • Ensure our internal communications are clear, consistent, and easy for people to connect with
  • Leaders feel confident and well supported in how they communicate
  • Engagement across our channels continues to grow (open rates, readership, participation)
  • Our people feel connected to Tower’s strategy and direction
  • Our internal channels are well managed, purposeful and easy to navigate

To thrive in this role, you’ll need

  • Strong experience in internal, corporate or change communications
  • Excellent writing and editing skills — you know how to make complex ideas simple and engaging
  • Great judgement, especially when handling sensitive or fast-moving communications
  • Confidence working with senior leaders and stakeholders across the business
  • Strong channel awareness — knowing what to say, how to say it, and where it lands best
  • Experience using or quickly picking up digital tools (intranet platforms, Viva Engage, newsletters, Canva)
  • A data-led mindset, using insights to improve engagement and impact
  • A collaborative, practical approach and a natural ability to coach others

We invest in you

We’re serious about looking after our people. Along with a competitive salary, we offer a range of benefits to support you and celebrate the work you do:

  • 26 weeks of paid parental leave for the primary carer and 4 weeks for partners
  • A paid day off on your birthday
  • 22 days annual leave, plus two extra annual leave days and the option to buy more
  • 10 days wellness leave
  • Career growth and internal opportunities
  • Flexible working and a modern office in Auckland
  • Discounts on Tower insurance products
  • Free life insurance
