Te Whiwhinga mahi | The opportunity

We have an exciting opportunity for a Security Analyst to join our Security Operation team. This role is responsible for supporting the day-to-day security monitoring, investigation, and protection of the organisation’s systems, applications, data, and network environment.

You will help identify, analyse, and respond to security events, vulnerabilities, and suspicious activity. You will work closely with technology teams to support incident response, strengthen security controls, and ensure risks are investigated and managed in a timely and effective manner.

You will monitor security alerts, system activity, and network events to detect potential threats, investigating suspicious behaviour and incidents to identify indicators of compromise. Analyse logs and security data to determine scope, impact, and root causes, while supporting vulnerability identification, assessment, prioritisation, and remediation tracking. Contribute to incident response activities through evidence gathering, containment support, and reporting, and review user activity and access patterns to uncover risks. Maintain and enhance security monitoring processes and response procedures, collaborating with infrastructure, network, cloud, and application teams to resolve issues effectively. Document findings clearly with practical recommendations to reduce risk, and stay up to date with emerging cyber threats, attack techniques, and security best practices.

You will have a strong technical foundation, good analytical skills, and the ability to investigate security issues methodically. You should be comfortable working in a fast-paced environment where prioritisation, accuracy, and clear communication are important.

  • Experience in cyber security, security operations, infrastructure, networking, or a related technical role.
  • Good understanding of security monitoring, incident response, threat detection, and vulnerability management.
  • Ability to analyse logs, alerts, and system activity to identify unusual or malicious behaviour.
  • Understanding of common cyber threats, attack methods, and defensive controls.
  • Knowledge of networking concepts, operating systems, cloud environments, and access management.
  • Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to investigate issues from initial alert through to resolution.
  • Ability to communicate technical findings clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Good documentation skills and attention to detail.
  • A proactive mindset, willingness to learn, and ability to work well within a team
