Aeronautical Capacity Planner

What you will be doing

It is an exciting time to join our Capacity and Analytics Team to help shape the future of Auckland Airport in this permanent role.

As the Aeronautical Capacity Planner, you will play an integral part in assisting Auckland Airport with forecasting future capacity needs through modelling which can range from the next IATA flying season to the next 5-10 years horizon, including capacity requirements during construction phasing. The capacity modelling coverage areas will include all in-terminal processes and airfield stands / aircraft parking facilities.

- Reconciliation and validation of aircraft movements and parking-related information, including daily aircraft parking data checks to support accurate monthly parking charges billing.

- Assist with the maintenance of capacity planning systems, including keeping business rules, planning assumptions and operational parameters accurate and up to date.

- Assist with the provision of data insights for capacity planning and optimisation workstreams, including the development and maintenance of reporting tools and Power BI dashboards.

- Support the Capacity team by performing capacity modelling, scenario assessment and analytics tasks across terminal, airfield, stands, bussing and check-in planning activities.

- Use advanced data analytics techniques, including data science methodologies, to research large operational datasets and produce meaningful insights for business decision-making.

- Support short-, medium- and long-term capacity modelling, including "what-if" scenarios for operational changes, construction phasing and future infrastructure planning.

- Assist with the preparation of clear capacity assessment reports, translating modelling outputs, assumptions and findings into practical recommendations for internal and external stakeholders.

- Work with internal teams, airlines, ground handlers, consultants and airport partners to support joined-up capacity planning across the airport ecosystem.

- Contribute to Auckland Airport's People First approach to health, safety and wellbeing by supporting safe, collaborative and well-informed planning practices.

What you'll bring to the role

To ensure your success in this role, you will need:

- 2 years plus experience in planning, business analysis, stakeholder engagement and relationship management, leading projects and influencing key business decisions.

- Experience in operating in a complex multi-stakeholder environment.

- Strong results orientation with a track record of achieving superior results.

- Well-developed skills as a team contributor, with demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively across functional lines.

- Excellent relationship-building skills at all levels of the organisation and externally.

- Ability to learn a new discipline quickly and apply it competently across the role accountabilities.
