Mō te tūranga | About the role

We're looking for a Sealing Department Engineer to help lead and coordinate sealing works across our Northland region. In this role, you'll work closely with the Department Manager and Operational staff to plan work well, keep things moving, and support the safe, efficient delivery of surfacing projects.

This is a role for someone who can balance a relaxed, team-first style with serious standards when it counts. You'll be trusted to lead from the front, support site crews and subcontractors, and help deliver good work that keeps our region moving.

Ngā tino kawenga mahi | Key role responsibilities

  • Lead, coordinate and supervise assigned sealing works delivered by Fulton Hogan crews and subcontractors.
  • Plan and allocate people, plant and materials to keep work running efficiently.
  • Support the safe application of bitumen and promote strong safety behaviours across the team.
  • Take part in pre-starts, identify hazards, speak up when something is not right, and help put the right controls in place.
  • Develop and implement practical solutions to deliver contracted works safely, compliantly and to a high standard.
  • Help ensure work is completed in line with environmental, quality and consent requirements.
  • Report incidents, near misses and improvement opportunities so we can keep learning and getting better.

Kei te kimi mātou i tētahi e whai ana i ēnei pūkenga | We're looking for someone with

  • Experience in a similar role, or a relevant tertiary qualification such as BE or NZCE.
  • A full NZ Class 1 licence, with Class 2 an advantage.
  • Experience delivering work on time and within budget.
  • The ability to lead, motivate and support field crews.
  • Experience allocating resources, materials and plant.
  • Knowledge of surfacing or sealing works would be an advantage.
  • A proactive, accountable approach with a strong focus on safety, quality and wellbeing.
  • A practical mindset, a collaborative style, and a willingness to learn, improve and bring ideas forward.
