The opportunity
The Plant Collection Curator is responsible for the implementation and presentation of the Plant Collections including structures, features and services related to its performance and presentation. The Plant Collection Curator is required to take a key role in the development of the Collection, training of apprentices, students and volunteers and promotion of the Botanic Garden in the wider public arena.
To be successful we are looking for someone with proven practical horticultural experience with a strong affiliation towards the cultivation of hardy exotic herbaceous and woody plants. You will need to have great interpersonal skills, be process driven and adaptable, have a passion and experience in vocational training.
Ideally you will have
- An approved qualification (e.g. completion of apprenticeship, RNZIH or Level 5 Diploma in Horticulture)
- Proven practical experience or relevant horticultural experience of a substantial relevant nature more than 5 years.
- A current Class 1 driver’s licence.
- Be experienced in the use of a wide range of tools and equipment used in the horticultural industry.
- Experience in the care and cultural requirements necessary to grow and maintain a wide range of ornamental plants.

Salary range: $61,722
