We have an exciting opportunity for a Geotechnical Team Leader or Manager to join our team in Auckland. This role offers the opportunity to lead and grow regional capability, provide technical leadership, and influence the future direction of our geotechnical services across the golden triangle, while remaining actively involved in project delivery and client relationships.
This is an opportunity to play a key role in shaping the future growth and success of our geotechnical team in the north island.
About The Role
Working within our national geotechnical team, you will lead the delivery of geotechnical investigations, assessments, designs, and reports across a range of residential, commercial, and land development projects.
You will work closely with clients, contractors, councils, and multidisciplinary project teams, providing technical input from investigation through to project completion. Strong technical capability, sound engineering judgement, and the ability to build trusted client relationships will be key to your success.
As Geotechnical Team Leader or Manager, you will lead the growth and development of our Auckland team while contributing to the strategic direction and advancement of our geotechnical capability across the Golden Triangle. This includes technical leadership, mentoring and developing engineers, supporting business development and client growth, and strengthening both the discipline and team capability across the region.

About You
You will be a technically capable and commercially minded geotechnical professional who enjoys leading people, developing client relationships, and delivering high-quality engineering solutions.
- Bachelor of Engineering (Civil) or equivalent qualification, specialising in Geotechnical Engineering
- Minimum 10 years' geotechnical engineering experience, including at least 5 years working in New Zealand
- CPEng accreditation is essential
- Strong technical expertise in geotechnical investigations, foundation design (shallow and deep), ground improvements, and New Zealand specific geotechnical solutions
- Strong leadership, whilst being a role model for promoting high work standards to deliver client projects on time and within budget
- Demonstrated experience leading, mentoring, and developing technical teams
- Ability to balance technical excellence, client relationships, and commercial outcomes
- Proven success building strong client partnerships and identifying opportunities for business growth
- A collaborative leadership style with a passion for developing people and fostering a high-performance culture
