Technical Applications Engineer

We are seeking a technically capable

Technical Applications Engineer to support our sales and customer solutions team. This role is critical in providing technical expertise across equipment, applications, and integrated solutions.

About the Role

This is a permanent, full-time position (minimum 40 hours per week). The role requires flexibility, including customer engagement, project coordination, and occasional travel within New Zealand and internationally.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the sales team with technical input, proposals, and solution design
  • Prepare and deliver customer presentations and equipment recommendations
  • Provide accurate pricing, quotations, and technical documentation
  • Assist with training for customers and internal teams on equipment and applications
  • Maintain accurate records across CRM and sales systems
  • Coordinate equipment orders and prepare handover documentation to service teams
  • Support demonstration facilities and ensure equipment is presentation-ready
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with customers and industry partners
  • Travel as required to support customer and business needs

Minimum Requirements

To be successful in this role, you must have:

  • Experience in applications engineering, technical sales, or industrial equipment environments, with a minimum of 3+ years’ relevant industry experience
  • Strong technical and commercial understanding of processing, packaging, or automation systems
  • Proven ability to prepare proposals, pricing, and technical solutions
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and stakeholder engagement skills
  • High level of organisation and ability to manage multiple priorities
  • A flexible approach, with willingness to travel as required

Preferred Experience

  • Experience with food processing or packaging equipment
  • Exposure to MULTIVAC, Handtmann, or similar technologies
  • Familiarity with CRM, quoting, or ERP systems

Remuneration & Benefits

  • Salary: $85,000 – $100,000 per annum, dependent on skills, qualifications and experience
  • Laptop and mobile phone provided
  • KiwiSaver: Employer contribution of 9% (for eligible employees)
  • Insurance: $400,000 Life and Total & Permanent Disability (TPD) cover

Salary & Market Alignment

The remuneration for this position has been set in line with current New Zealand market rates for comparable technical and applications engineering roles, considering the required level of technical expertise, commercial acumen, and industry experience.

The offered salary range of $85,000 – $100,000 per annum is above the New Zealand median wage benchmark (based on a 40-hour work week) and reflects the specialised nature of this role, including expertise in technical solutions, equipment applications, and customer-facing support within a capital equipment environment.
