Alexandra Pool is a busy, year-round facility serving the Central Otago community, from lap swimmers to families and learners. With one of our current Supervisors heading off on an overseas adventure, we're looking for someone ready to step into a key leadership role.
This isn't a back-of-house position, you'll be visible on the floor, making real-time decisions, shaping team culture, and ensuring every visit to the pool is safe and welcoming. The opportunity ahead is to build something: a cohesive two-supervisor leadership model where your contribution directly shapes the facility's performance and reputation.
Key Responsibilities
Aquatics Supervisor Job Description
- Lead daily operations of Alexandra Pool as part of a two-supervisor team, sharing responsibility for staffing, rostering, and on-shift decision making
- Supervise, support, and develop Pool Crew across all shifts — building a positive, high-performance team culture
- Ensure compliance with PoolSafe standards and all health and safety requirements
- Respond to incidents and emergencies with calm, effective leadership
- Maintain high standards of water quality, cleanliness, and facility presentation
- Support swim school, aquatic programmes, and wider CODC Aquatics Team initiatives
- Deliver excellent customer service and handle enquiries and feedback professionally
- Work closely with the Aquatics Manager on facility performance and planning
Desired Skills And Experience
About you
- Current Pool Lifeguard Practising Certificate (PLPC) or ability to obtain
- First Aid Certificate (Unit Standards 6400, 6401, 6402 or equivalent)
- Experience in an aquatic or leisure facility
- Strong leadership and communication skills
- Confidence in decision making and emergency response
- A positive, professional, and supportive approach
- Calm and decisive under pressure
