Community Care Trust is seeking passionate and committed Youth Support Workers to join our Youth Team in Ōtepoti. About the role | He kōrero whakamārama mō tēnei tūranga

As a Youth Support Worker, you will work alongside rangatahi who may have experienced trauma, adversity, or complex life circumstances. Through positive relationships, consistency, and encouragement, you will support them to build confidence, develop life skills, and achieve their goals.

You will help maintain a safe, structured, and nurturing environment while supporting the wellbeing and development of young people. Experience in positive behaviour support and working with complex behaviours is highly valued.

What you will bring | Ngā pūkenga mō tēnei tūranga

We are looking for people who:

• Have experience working with rangatahi, whānau, Māori, Pacific, or diverse communities
• Bring an understanding of Te Tiriti o Waitangi and culturally responsive practice
• Have knowledge and application experience of Te Ao Māori, tikanga Māori, Pacific worldviews, and culturally grounded approaches to supporting rangatahi
• Can build positive, respectful, and trusting relationships with young people
• Have strong communication, patience, and resilience
• Understand strengths-based and trauma-informed approaches
• Have experience supporting young people with complex needs or behaviours (desirable)
• Work well within a team and can maintain clear documentation and communication

Lived experience, cultural knowledge, community involvement, and understanding of Te Reo Māori or Pasifika languages are highly valued.

Essential Requirements

• Full New Zealand Driver License
• First Aid Certificate (or willingness to obtain one at our cost)
• Eligibility to work in Aotearoa New Zealand
• Minimum 12 months Work/Student Visa before your visa expiry
• Availability to work rostered shifts, including weekends

AEWV Job Token Requirements

• Full New Zealand Driver License
• Level 4 or above Health & Wellbeing certificate or assessed equivalent qualifications
• Or 3 years (full time) New Zealand bases Support Worker experience
