We’re looking for a Group Management Accountant to join our team and help lead the management accounting for Group Corporate and IT. Reporting to the Group Finance Manager, this role is all about delivering accurate reporting, strong financial insight and trusted support that helps our teams make informed decisions and perform at their best.
Mō te tūranga | About the role
As our Group Management Accountant, you’ll lead the management accounting activities for Group Corporate and IT, ensuring budgets, forecasts, reporting, cost allocations and governance requirements are delivered accurately and on time. You’ll work closely with a broad range of stakeholders across IT, Group Corporate, Shared Services and the wider business, providing clear financial analysis and practical support to improve decision-making and cost performance. This is a varied and influential role where you’ll combine commercial insight, strong technical capability and relationship management to add real value across the business.
Ngā kawenga matua | Key responsibilities
- Lead the management accounting for Group Corporate and IT, including monthly reporting and commentary
- Prepare annual budgets and periodic forecasts in partnership with budget owners and relevant stakeholders
- Develop and maintain cost allocation methodologies that are accurate, transparent and well understood by the business
- Provide financial analysis, variance reporting and commercial insights to support decision-making
- Review profit and loss performance, highlighting trends, risks and opportunities
- Support the preparation of monthly board papers, reviewing and writing commentary to summarise the monthly financial performance
- Support month-end and year-end processes, including reconciliations, audit requests and reporting pack reviews
- Manage capital expenditure reporting and governance in line with delegated authorities
- Monitor balance sheet items, purchase orders and GRNI to ensure accuracy and appropriate support
- Identify and implement improvements to reporting, financial processes and controls
- Provide guidance, review support and day-to-day supervision to a Graduate Accountant where required
- Ensure compliance with accounting policies, reporting timetables and governance requirements
- Support the Group Finance Manager with projects, initiatives and ad hoc analysis

- An appropriate tertiary qualification in accounting or finance, with a qualified accountant background preferred
- Strong management accounting experience, including budgeting, forecasting and monthly reporting
- Excellent analytical skills with the ability to interpret, challenge and clearly communicate financial information
- Experience preparing high-quality reporting for senior leaders, including board or committee papers
- A strong understanding of cost allocation methodologies, financial controls and reporting governance
- Strong Microsoft Excel skills and experience working with large volumes of data
- The ability to build effective relationships across a wide range of internal stakeholders
- Experience using Oracle JD Edwards and Reports Now would be beneficial
