As Commodity Manager, you will lead Farmlands’ commodity buying and trading function nationwide, driving commercial performance, managing risk and delivering value for shareholders. This is your opportunity to source and trade product at a large scale, shaping supply outcomes and influencing market presence across New Zealand.
Key responsibilities include:
- Leading the end-to-end buying and trading of domestic and imported feed commodities, ensuring supply, pricing and performance targets are achieved.
- Developing and executing commodity strategies that drive commercial outcomes, optimise margins and support shareholder value.
- Monitoring domestic and international markets, using insights to guide purchasing decisions and manage trading risk.
- Building and maintaining strong relationships with growers, suppliers and industry partners while enhancing Farmlands’ market presence.
- Leading, coaching and developing a high-performing team.
Mōhou ake | About you
- Extensive experience in commodity trading, procurement, or supply chain, with strong knowledge of market dynamics.
- Proven experience managing trading positions, contracts and commercial risk.
- Strong leadership capability, with experience managing and developing high-performing teams.
- Excellent negotiation, relationship management and networking skills.
- A strong commercial mindset, with the ability to translate market insight into action and deliver results.
