Manager, Media and Events
Greater Wellington
We're looking for a Manager Media and Events to join our multidisciplinary communications team. This is a permanent, full-time role is based in our central Wellington, Cuba Street office .
About the role
In this role, you will set Greater Wellington's strategic approach to proactive and reactive media engagement, event delivery, and sponsorship activity. You will support these functions to operate in a coordinated, consistent, and risk-aware manner, ensuring they are aligned with organisational strategy, customer experience objectives, and democratic accountability.
This position requires flexibility to respond outside core business hours, including managing the media phone and ensuring out-of-hours events run smoothly.
Skills and experience required
We are looking for someone with extensive experience leading media relations and reputation management, with a demonstrated history in media, risk or crisis management. You will be confident in providing strategic, trusted advice to internal and external stakeholders, with a strong consideration for reputation, risk and governance.
Co-ordinated Incident Management System (CIMS) or emergency experience will be an advantage, as this position is required to support Greater Wellington's emergency response by providing public communications as part of the Public Information Management (PIM) desk function.
You will have strong people management skills, with previous experience managing a high-performing team. This will enable you to effectively manage our 5 person Media and Events team, who are trusted internally and externally to deliver fantastic outcomes for our region.

The remuneration for this position, inclusive of all benefits, is $123,052 to $184,579 with a midpoint of $153,815. Starting remuneration will depend on the skills and experience of the successful applicant.
