At Northpower, we power communities by delivering essential electricity and infrastructure services across Aotearoa. We’re currently looking for a safety-conscious and technically skilled Cabling Jointer – Stand over to join our team and support critical civil and utility projects.

This role is ideal for someone with solid experience in cable jointing who is confident overseeing third-party works around our underground assets to ensure safety, compliance, and quality.

Responsibilities

  • Overseeing third-party civil and construction activities near or around Northpower’s underground network
  • Acting as the on-site representative to ensure all work complies with safety and technical standards
  • Providing guidance and support on cable jointing requirements and best practices
  • Identifying and mitigating risks to underground assets
  • Liaising with contractors, clients, and internal teams to ensure clear communication and safe outcomes
  • Conducting inspections and documenting site activities in line with compliance requirements

Experience

  • Proven experience in cable jointing or underground electrical work
  • A strong commitment to health, safety, and environmental standards
  • The confidence and authority to stop work when risks are identified
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Strong understanding of utility protection practices and underground service identification
  • A current driver’s licence (Class 1 minimum) – Class 2 or WTR endorsements are a bonus
