About the Role - Kōrero mō te Tūranga
As a Business Adviser in the Cost Recovery Oversight team, you'll help design and improve cost recovery arrangements across New Zealand Food Safety, working across legislation, policy, and financial data to ensure systems are fair, transparent, and effective. This is a unique opportunity to apply your financial and analytical skills to real regulatory challenges.
You'll work on complex written material, translate data into pricing models, and contribute to advice and communications that support decision-making and public understanding. The work is varied and project-based, giving you exposure to everything from forecasting and financial analysis through to implementation of fees, charges, and levies.
You will:
- Analyse legislation, policy, and financial information
- Support design and review of fees, levies and charges
- Translate data into cost recovery and pricing models
- Draft documentation, advice, and public communications
- Contribute to implementation of charging frameworks
About You - Mōu
You may currently be working as a Financial Analyst, Pricing Analyst, Policy Adviser, Regulatory Analyst, or Management Consultant. You might come from a bank, financial services organisation, consultancy, or a central government agency, where you've built strong analytical, modelling, and communication skills.
You're comfortable working with complex information, whether financial data, legislation, or policy, and translating it into clear insights and practical recommendations. You enjoy engaging with detailed written and financial material, and can confidently analyse, interpret, and present your findings in a structured and accessible way.
You bring a foundation in finance, economics, accounting, or commerce, and are comfortable working with data, legislation, and policy to support decision-making and advisory outputs. You are detail-focused, methodical in your approach, and able to collaborate effectively while managing competing priorities.
You will be able to demonstrate:
- Experience working in finance, banking, or large organisations
- A degree in finance, economics, accounting, or commerce
- Strong analytical skills and attention to detail
- Experience with pricing models or financial systems
- Clear written communication for varied audiences

About the Team -
Mō tō mātou Rōpū
You'll join the Cost Recovery Oversight Team within Regulatory Support & Performance at New Zealand Food Safety. We are a collaborative, multidisciplinary group working closely with finance, policy, operational teams and NZFS leaders to deliver high-quality, transparent cost recovery systems across Aotearoa's food safety regulatory landscape.
