Board Member
The HR Hub NZ
The Southern Charity Hospital Trust was established in 2019 following Blair Vining’s highly-publicised battle with terminal bowel cancer.
The hospital was founded by the community, for the community. The Hospital provides free services to those in the southern half of New Zealand who are unable to access care through the public or private health systems. Currently the hospital provides colonoscopies to patients from the Southern District Health Board Zone (which covers Southland and Otago), as well as daycase surgical procedures and dental care. It is anticipated that services will expand over time in accordance with the needs of the community.
The Southern Charity Hospital does not receive any Government funding. Instead, it relies on donations, grants, and the generosity of the wider community keen to help Southerners in need.
About The Role
Now an integral player in the Southland healthcare community, the Southern Charity Hospital has an opportunity for a passionate, professional to join as a Board Member on an established and experienced Board of Trustees. The Board has the overall responsibility for securing funding streams, driving community support, and overseeing the hospital to ensure quality service is provided. This role is a rewarding pro-bono governance role and would suit a dynamic individual with financial and governance expertise that is excited about transformative change for regional healthcare.
