We’re on the lookout for a Product Development Technologist to join our dynamic team on a 12-month fixed-term contract approximately until December 2027, where you’ll play a key role in be leading multiple NPD projects at our Papakura site, across both biscuit and cracker categories and bringing exciting new products from concept to shelf.

Reporting to the NPD Manager- Biscuits & Crackers this role will be predominantly based at our Papakura Manufacturing site with some flexibility needed to occasionally be at the Wiri Manufacturing site and Ellerslie Head office.

What would you be responsible for?

  • Executing NPD and product quality improvement plans and managing the product development stage of projects, meeting budgets/timeframes.
  • Liaising with suppliers, researching materials and technologies to meet project requirements
  • Developing product formulations and prototype samples
  • Supporting alternative material work stream and SKU improvement projects for continuity of supply and value creation
  • Identifying new technologies and ingredients relevant for future product development
  • Leading factory trials and initial production runs, including reporting and validation
  • Working closely with a range of stakeholders to achieve successful project outcomes
  • Preparing and signing off technical information/artwork, ensuring compliance with the FSANZ code and other requirements
  • Product and systems maintenance

Alongside a true passion for all things food, you will also bring the following to the role…

  • Ideally , 2+ years product or process development or continuous improvement experience in food manufacturing (bonus points if you have worked in snacks before!)
  • Tertiary qualification, with Science or Food Technology endorsements desirable
  • Sound knowledge of food safety, food standards and awareness of allergens
  • Strong organizational, time management and prioritizing skills – in fact, these skills are so good, they make others green with envy!
  • Excellent communication, influencing and relationship building skills, both with internal and external stakeholders
  • Innovative and creative mindset– the sky is the limit for these categories, so you’ll need to be ready to throw new ideas into the mix!
  • Resilience, positivity, and a solutions-focused approach – you see road bumps as a challenge, not a disaster!
  • Flexibility and agility – our industry is ever changing, and we need you to be able to move with it
