Auckland Council
- Permanent full-time opportunity
- Auckland Urban Development Office – Resilience and Infrastructure
- Use your placemaking skills to support regeneration and development across key locations in South Auckland
He angitūtanga: The opportunity
Auckland Council’s Auckland Urban Development Office has an opportunity for a Placemaker to join our Priority Locations team.
This role is at the heart of delivering successful regeneration and development for our city, by supporting the activation and ongoing vibrancy of key South Auckland locations. You’ll help bring public spaces to life through building relationships, testing future plans, and delivering well-planned activations, and community-led initiatives that strengthen local identity and encourage people to connect with their places.
Working closely with a matrix team, you will contribute to the delivery of place programmes across South Auckland by coordinating activations, managing planning and logistical requirements, and supporting strong relationships with local communities, mana whenua, Council teams, and external partners.
This is a hands-on delivery role where no two days are the same — you’ll be involved in everything from planning and preparing activations, to supporting on-the-ground delivery, to ensuring all compliance, safety, and operational requirements are met.
Day-to-day you could expect to work on:
- Building relationships with stakeholders, suppliers, and community partners to support place-based development and regeneration
- Supporting the planning and delivery of place-based activations, activities and installations
- Coordinating activations and activities, including bookings, permits and delivery plans to ensure smooth delivery
- Providing on-site support during activations, including site setup and management where required
- Monitoring risks and issues and supporting mitigation and escalation where needed
- Contributing to reporting, tracking, and programme updates to support delivery oversight
- Supporting engagement with mana whenua and local communities to reflect local aspirations
