The Digital, Data and Finance Group brings together digital capability, data insight and financial stewardship to support how Maritime NZ plans, prioritises and delivers change.

Within this, the DST Strategy and Architecture function plays a central role in shaping the organisations digital future, ensuring systems, platforms and technology investments are aligned, sustainable and designed to deliver strong regulatory performance

Te tunga | The role

Maritime NZ is undergoing a period of change to strengthen its sustainability and future focus. Following an organisational redesign, we are recruiting into a number of newly shaped roles that support our shift toward more efficient, digitally enabled ways of working, helping position us for the future.

This leadership role is responsible for how Maritime NZ designs, plans and evolves its digital and technology environment. As Manager DST Strategy and Architecture, youll lead the organisations digital strategy, enterprise architecture and system design, ensuring technology is aligned to organisational priorities and can be delivered in a practical, scalable way. Youll connect strategy with execution, providing the leadership needed to translate long-term direction into coherent platforms, systems and roadmaps.

Key areas of focus include:

  • Leading the development of digital, data and system strategy aligned to organisational priorities
  • Ensuring a clear, achievable and well-sequenced digital roadmap
  • Providing enterprise-wide architecture leadership across systems and platforms
  • Overseeing design and integration of core systems, including effective product ownership, lifecycle management and system evolution
  • Ensuring systems are secure, scalable, interoperable and sustainable
  • Lead the identification and adoption of AI opportunities, embedding AI into systems, platforms and business processes to improve productivity and decision-making
  • Supporting investment decisions and trade-offs through clear strategic and technical advice
  • Enabling a joined-up, enterprise approach across strategy, architecture, delivery and insight functions
  • Leading and developing a high-performing multidisciplinary team

This role is critical to ensuring Maritime NZs digital ecosystem is coherent, future-focused and able to support effective regulatory delivery.

Youre an experienced digital or technology leader who can operate at both strategic and technical levels. You bring strong systems thinking and the ability to align complex environments around a clear direction.

You will bring:

  • Experience leading digital strategy, architecture or technology functions in complex organisations
  • Proven people leadership across multidisciplinary teams
  • Strong experience translating organisational strategy into digital roadmaps and system design
  • Experience overseeing enterprise architecture, platforms or large-scale technology environments
  • Understanding of integration, scalability, security and long-term system sustainability
  • Experience supporting investment decisions and working with senior stakeholders
  • Ability to influence across organisational boundaries and drive alignment
  • Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills
  • A systems-thinking mindset, with comfort navigating complexity and ambiguity

Salary range

$194,797 - $238,085 depending on skills and experience + superannuation.
