Responsibilities
As a Support Worker, you will empower individuals with intellectual disabilities to lead fulfilling lives at home and within their community. This role is deeply meaningful, allowing you to be creative and make each day engaging and significant for those you support. Your responsibilities include:
- Building independence: Help people grow their daily living skills, from catching public transport to cooking their own meals.
- Supporting daily life: Assist with personal care routines such as showering, getting dressed, and taking medication.
- Pursuing goals and interests: Encourage and support people to engage in their interests, hobbies, and personal goals.
- Staying healthy and well: Support healthy choices and overall wellbeing in a way that works for each person.
- Supporting complex behaviours: Provide calm, consistent support with behaviour management, ensuring dignity, safety, and respect.
- Creating connections: Support and strengthen relationships with whānau, colleagues, and the wider community.

Ngā pūmanawatanga ōu | What you will bring
- Experience in the health and disability sector is preferred; however, we also welcome applicants with a genuine desire to build a career as a Support Worker and a positive, can-do attitude.
- Availability to work rostered shifts, including mornings, evenings, overnight sleepovers, and regular weekend shifts.
- Confidence and willingness to support individuals with complex or challenging behaviours, using positive and respectful approaches (training provided).
- Comfortable using computers and tablets for daily tasks such as recording notes and communication.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to build positive relationships.
- Able to meet the physical requirements of the role, including providing hands-on support when needed.
- Hold a full New Zealand driver’s licence.
