The remuneration range for this role is $80,369 to $113,462 (including KiwiSaver) depending on skills and experience

The opportunity

As Senior Technical Advisor Condition Assessment, you will join a new team responsible for routine asset condition assessment survey practice. You’ll be responsible for providing advanced technical expertise in assessing the condition of the three waters network and utility assets.

Role

Bringing a strong practical knowledge and hands-on experience with assessment equipment and methodologies you’ll provide guidance on equipment selection, validate assessment approaches, and ensure fieldwork aligns with best practice standards. In this role you will:

  • Lead investigations of complex or escalated issues, including those requiring advanced technical expertise
  • Plan, engage and coordinate required resources and subcontractors to ensure completion of specialist work in alignment with asset condition requirements
  • Research and implement the use of new condition assessment technologies
  • Mentor and coach Technical Advisors within the team

About You

To be successful in this role you will bring:

  • Significant experience in asset inspection, condition assessment or maintenance in a utility or infrastructure environment in relation to three waters
  • Knowledge of Water supply, wastewater and stormwater systems, operation and maintenance management systems
  • Proven ability to collaborate across multiple teams and communicate effectively with stakeholders
  • Practical knowledge and experience in the application of risk management practices
  • Strong technical expertise in a wide range of assessment tools including CCTV, pressure testing and dye testing, as well as visual inspections
  • A relevant Technical or Trade qualification or equivalent practical experience
  • A full NZ Class 1 Drivers Licence and a strong commitment to health and safety

Wellington Water Ltd is the professional water services provider across Greater Wellington and South Wairarapa. Our job is to provide safe and healthy drinking water, collect and treat wastewater, and ensure the stormwater network is well managed. We’re a multi-council owned entity, tasked to manage the infrastructure and deliver water services to our communities. From 1 July 2026, a new chapter in water services begins. Tiaki Wai will take over responsibility for providing Three Waters Services to approximately 433,000 residents across the Wellington metro regions.

Tiaki Wai will own the water assets it operates giving it greater independence to manage and improve water services for current and future communities, Wellington Water employees will transition into this new council-owned entity.
