Mō te Tūranga | About the Role
This is a rare opportunity join a well-established and high performing team in the broader BNZ Markets business. As a Director within BNZ’s Capital Markets team you will play a leadership role, identifying opportunities and developing and maintaining client relationships including coverage away from immediate transactions. You will have a focus on providing comprehensive public and private debt and structured financing solutions to corporate and institutional clients in partnership with Institutional Banking.
What are some of the key responsibilities you will own in this role?
This role is responsible for achieving financial targets for Debt Capital Markets business, utilising strong commercial acumen, deal instinct and lateral thinking skills to recommend, secure and structure deals to meet the needs of Customers, BNZ and Investors.
- Origination, structuring, and leading transaction execution, deal roadshows etc.
- Pitches ideas to issuers/borrowers to gain a mandate, as well as positioning the deal with credit, investors and distributing the deal into the market place.
- Promote growth of client franchise and continued product development. Actively promote and market the DCM business internally and externally.
- Drive innovation and customer-oriented solutions.
- Obtain buy-in and cooperation from different business units involved in product manufacture, settlement and distribution.
- Actively participate in analysing opportunities, conducting product and account planning in collaboration with Relationship Managers and global Corporate Financing teams including cross-border pitches where applicable.
- Develop and maintain good working relationships with key stakeholders, customers and all business partners.
- Support Capital Markets strategy and business planning, adapting to market conditions and partnering with Institutional Banking, Sales and Trading to deliver sustainable growth.
What attributes will this person display in order to be successful in this role?
- Broad origination and syndicate (7+ years) experience in a dynamic, changing and sometimes adverse market environment that drives strong levels of commercial understanding, clear appreciation of key business drivers and a superior level of personal resilience.
- Experience in related fields of markets, corporate lending, legal or accounting.
- Sound understanding of financial analysis, credit issues and debt structuring.
- Excellent communication skills with demonstrated success in influencing senior stakeholders.
- Well-networked with strong professional relationships within financial markets.
- NZFMA accreditation or global equivalent.
