Data Management Tooling Specialist

We have an exciting opportunity for a Data Management Tooling Specialist to join our Data Management Office, where you’ll help shape and evolve how we manage data across ASB.

Mo te tūranga | About the role

The purpose of this role is to drive effective, scalable and compliant data management across ASB by leading the optimisation and delivery of data management tooling. This includes partnering with business and technology stakeholders to analyse and resolve issues related to data management tooling, prioritising and delivering high value tooling capabilities, and enabling governance and remediation outcomes that are timely, sustainable and right first-time.

In This Role, You’ll

• Partner with the Data Management Office and subject matter experts to analyse, document and guide solutions relating to data management tooling
• Lead root cause analysis of data issues and incidents related to data management tooling to identify sustainable solutions and prevent recurrence
• Assess value, develop business cases, and prioritise backlog items aligned to tooling strategy and strategic outcomes
• Own and prioritise delivery of the tooling backlog to maximise return on investment and business value
• Work with cross-functional squads and technical specialists to deliver tooling capabilities through iterative delivery
• Engage with vendors and industry partners to ensure ASB derives maximum value from its data tooling portfolio
• Support projects and programmes to assess the impact of data change and embed this within governance tools
• Present insights and recommendations to data forums to socialise outcomes and proposed solutions
• Provide stakeholders with ongoing visibility of data remediation initiatives
• Drive improvements across data governance, tooling, policy and community practices
• Enable education and uplift capability across ASB in data management practices

You’ll Bring

• Hands-on experience working with data management tooling and supporting data infrastructure (2+ years)
• Experience working in large, complex and evolving data environments
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to think beyond the obvious
• Business analysis capability to understand the impact of data and tooling change
• A people-centred approach, with the ability to support and educate stakeholders
• Confidence to challenge the status quo and drive better outcomes
• The ability to work independently and make pragmatic decisions
• A strong learning orientation and continuous improvement mindset
