Digital Literacy Tutor

PSEC is one of the largest providers of social and health services in New Zealand. Our East Coast team is made up of over 200 staff and 100 volunteers across our services, which include Enliven and Family Works and two charity shops.
Enliven Disability Services work alongside young people under 65 living with a disability. We are passionate about supporting disabled people on their journey to imagine, create and live a full life. You will be part of a team working to make a difference in your local community.
We are looking for an enthusiastic Digital Literacy Tutor to join our disability support services team.
The Digital Literacy and Numeracy Tutor will facilitate the organisation, planning and day-to-day delivery of support and courses provided under the Adult Community Education (ACE) contract working with people with disabilities.
You will be required to deliver interesting and innovative Digital tutoring sessions (teaching students on subjects relating to computers, Internet and Portable Devices such as cell phones/tablets and utilisation of content creation software) that reflects the abilities of our student group, supporting students to achieve their own goals and aspirations.
You will join a team of dedicated people to support people in Hawkes Bay with physical and/or intellectual disabilities. You will need to be passionate about Disability Support and preferably have experience in the sector.
Hours are Tuesdays 9.00am to 3.30pm and Wednesdays and Thursdays 9.30am to 3.00pm.
Salary Between $29.00 and $31.00 per hour (depending on qualifications and experience).
You will
- Plan and provide high quality digital literacy tutoring service which is focused on student choice and need in a manner that reflects the Organisation's philosophy and mission statement "Lead social change with courage and care".
- Provide a safe and respectful environment that encourages students to grow and meet their full potential
- Keep accurate records of students attending the classes and facilitate the completion of goals and course evaluations from students.
- Where possible, support students in an "access community first" approach to achieving goals, training outcomes, or social activities
- Have some tutoring experience
- Have experience working with people with disabilities
- Be skilled in and comfortable with a variety of digital platforms Support the Literacy and Numeracy Tutor
